A new contender has possible entered the ring as runner to be my next car, but it's so far outside of being my style. In fact is a car I've hated, and made fun of lots in the past. I like to think I've moved past the closed minded opinions of my youth, and there for would consider this mullet machine for the fallowing reasons.

It is in budget about 500 under budget actually, it has a V8, it's RWD, it has a clutch, and mother freaking T tops! It would need a paint job tho, the pace car look aint doing it for me. Escpecially since the stripes aren't even done right.

!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!

the stripes should look like this

Kinja'd!!!

But I think I could do purple with some uber 80's lighting bolts down the side haha\

It took awhile but I did find a picture of a white one I like tho, It's al about wheel choice and stance.

Kinja'd!!!

One more thing, I've been told that only the 305 was offered with a manual, so either this car has a new engine, new trans, or both. So if I go look at it, if there a clear way to tell if it is really a 350, not a 305?

I like the bottom picture one, I'm wanting to do a project Trans Am of a similar vintage

Its not a factory 350 with a manual.

Either its a 350 that someone swapped a manual into

or its a 305 with a manual

or it was a 305 car with a manual that blew the engine and someone put a 350 in.

Either way, GM never made a 350/Manual car.

C5 Z06 wheels look sex on these, plus they allow for 275s which is what you want. Good luck!

You're going to love it. It's got buckets of torque, a practical hatch, and the ability to rip mad burnouts.

if my understanding is correct doing burn outs and doughnut is the only reason to own a Camaro. That and being the douchy popular guy in an 80s high school

Do it!! That second example you posted looks very clean, it's totally all about the wheels and stance. Plus gas prices are SO cheap here in 'Murca right now, maybe for one last time. For that reason I recently had a very similar change of heart; I'm seriously considering a slightly used mustang as my next ride. Supposedly the recent generations have respectable handling. And dat coyote 5.0!

Also, customization and the prospect of cheap speed.

If it's a 305 car, it's 300 lb. ft. Maybe not buckets....350 is like 335-345 or something. Closer to buckets.

Absolutely, I have wicked man-love for Austin's car...

Mine will get there some day...(BTW, I've dropped it since this pic, but I still want it lower)

Wow, that style of wheel just looks perfect on these cars. What are they called? Love the plain white, very classy. And of course, always go lower!

Corvette C5 (genuine, light as hell for the size, which are 18" x 10.5" all around)-these are my autocross wheels with Nittp NT05 295-35-18's.

300 lb ft is still quite a bit of torque.

I wonder if it's a factory V8 car. He says IROC in the ad, but a lot of people call 3rd gen Camaros IROCs like they call Firebirds Trans Am. The hood is what I'm looking at...I don't see louvres on that hood, and the IROCs had louvres. The RS didn't...but now that I'm thinking of it, I'm sure you could still get the RS with a V8.

My money is on it being a 305/5 speed RS originally. Unfortunately, you can't really tell the difference between the 350 and the 305 from the top end of the motor. I think there's probably a stamp on the block, but knowing how 3rd gens are setup, that's gonna be hard to see.

Doing a little research...the RS got the LO3 305, which was a TBI (throttle body injection) engine that made 170hp. The IROC either got that or the LB9, which was the TPI (tuned port injection) 305. If it looks like a carburetor with a round air cleaner, it's a TBI. TPI will have the 4 runners on each side of the intake plenum.

Sorry to be writing you a book here, haha. I've had my share of F-bodies, I like them a lot, and 3rd gens are my favorites.

Hmm. Looks like he changed the air cleaner but left the TBI...hard to tell, but that little hose going from under the cleaner to the valve cover is a TBI thing. The valve covers are aftermarket, which doesn't mean it's not get 305, but it's something.

Definitely an RS, but that isn't necessarily bad...suspension is the same on both, trim and engine choices were the difference. The fake port holes, those are bad.

In that price range, Camaros come up all the time. I'd hold out for a nice IROC with a 305 TPI and a stick. Rareish, but you can absolutely find them for that money in good shape.
